TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rizieq Shihab did not attend his initial pretrial hearing on the determination of his status as suspect for the Petamburan crowd-gathering case. The pretrial is being held today, January 4.
Rizieq's attorney, Muhammad Kamil Pasha, said there is a reason why his client did not appear at the South Jakarta District Court.
"There is also a questioning at Polda," Kamil said at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday.
Rizieq Shihab is currently detained at the Jakarta Police Station, under suspicion of violating health protocols by holding events that attract large crowds in November last year.
The National Police's spokesman, Insp. Gen. Argo Yuwono, said that more than 1,600 officers are standing by to safe-guard the pretrial, "from the location of the trial to regulating traffic lanes," he said on Monday, January 4.
