TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A witness of the corruption scandal involving the former Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Edhy Prabowo had reportedly died on December 31, 2020. The witness in question is believed to had been deeply-connected in the lobster seeds export graft.
“From information we obtained the witness died on December 31,” said Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) acting-spokesperson Ali Fikri.
The witness he refers to is Deden Deni who is a 'controller' at PT Aero Citra Kargo (ACK) - the only export firm that obtained the permit to export lobster seeds from Indonesia. KPK said Deden was questioned on December 7, 2020, in connection to the firm’s export permit request to the maritime affairs ministry.
KPK suspects the export firm and Edhy Prabow had received partial fees from the shipping of lobster seeds by PT ACK.
However, Ali claims the unfortunate death of Deden will not hamper the investigation against Edhy Prabowo as he said there are plenty of witnesses in the lobster seeds exports corruption case.
