TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Environment Department collected 3.2 tons of waste produced by 2021 new year celebrations from various locations.
The number fell drastically compared to last year’s waste at 125 tons. "Jakarta is clean at 02:00," said Jakarta environment department acting head Syaripudin in a written statement on January 1.
He said that the number of trashes was decline since there were no new year celebrations at locations where people usually gather.
Jakarta Administration closed Sudirman-Thamrin during New Year’s Eve as those were the centers where people gather to celebrate the turning of the year annually.
“The discipline acts of Jakarta Administration and its people in containing the spread of Covid-19 by avoiding to gather and create crowds have affected the number of the produced wastes,” Syaripudin said.
