TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police spokesperson Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus on Tuesday announced that it had foiled a drug smuggling scheme of 201 kilogram crystal meth in Petamburan, Central Jakarta, which he claims was driven by a Middle Eastern drug syndicate.
“The contrabands were equally coded 55 and are indeed a Middle Eastern drug syndicate,” said Yusri Yunus on December 22.
Police began its investigation on the international syndicate’s drug smuggling attempt after tracking down and arresting 10 drug traffickers incriminated in drug cases in the area of Jakarta, which led them to arrest one suspect that initially planned to bring the crystal meth to a hotel in Petamburan.
From there, police confiscated 196 drug packages labeled “55,” which is similar to the drugs that were in the possession of a drug trafficker that police executed in January this year in the area of Serpong. The suspects are charged with Article 114 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) and Law No.35/2010.
