TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - University of Indonesia epidemiologist, Pandu Riono, on Tuesday said the Covid-19 infection rate in the capital city is not to be worried about as he believes the isolation bed maximum capacity is still under control.
“What needs to be the main concern is not Jakarta. Nearly all hospitals in every city in the Java Island are full, and that is what needs to be looked after,” said the epidemiologist on December 22.
Pandu believes that the current Cvid-19 growing trend in the Java Island has made the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) ineffective unless each and every region collectively implements the social restriction.
One of the sudden jumps in confirmed cases takes place after a holiday period has ended. He said Jakarta’s daily additional cases once dropped to 700-800 daily cases after a strict PSBB restriction was imposed but has grown again after Covid-19 social restrictions were relaxed.
