TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Transportation is planning to hold 20,000 random rapid antigen tests targeting people traveling by public or private land transport during Christmas and New Year 2021 holidays.
The Ministry's Land Transportation Director-General Budi Setiyadi, confirmed that private vehicle users or public land transport passengers were not required to take a rapid antigen test before a trip as noted in the circular No. 3/2020 issued by the Covid-19 Mitigation Task Force.
Albeit it was not mandatory, the government was keen to hold random tests for those traveling during the year-end holidays.
"We will carry out random tests for public transportation users for free. We target 20,000 tests," said Budi Setiyadi to Bisnis.com on Monday, December 21, 2020.
Budi explained that the random rapid tests would be conducted in bus terminals, and rest areas on non-toll roads or toll roads. The test, especially in the toll road rest areas, would be managed by the police, he added.
