TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ancol Dreamland Park (Taman Impian Jaya Ancol) announced that it will be closed during the Christmas and New Year's holidays (December 25, 31, and January 1).
Ancol president director Teuku Sahur Syahali said the decision to not open follows up the Governor’s Instruction No.64/2020 which essentially calls for tourist destinations to close during the holidays in an attempt to curb the chain of Covid-19 infections.
According to Teuku, the closure will affect popular recreations in Ancol such as its beaches, Dunia Fantasi, SeaWorld Ancol, Ocean Dream Samudra, Pasar Seni and Allianz Ecopark.
However, there will still be two locations open to serve the public consisting of the Putri Duyung Resort, which can only be booked through online reservation and the Marina Bay. The latter remains open during the holidays only to serve people that intend to travel to Seribu Island (Thousand Islands).
“This is the best step that can be taken amidst the pandemic. It is better for us to enjoy Christmas and New Year at home to avoid being exposed to the spread of Covid-19,” wrote Teuku in Tuesday’s statement.
