TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy, Nurul Ghufron, on Monday announced that the anti-graft agency will pay close attention to the government’s spending on the Covid-19 vaccination program.
“KPK will be there from the vaccination’s policy making up to its implementation in the field,” said Ghufron on December 21. “That is what we will be doing for the public health’s sake and to prevent corruption over Covid-19 funds.”
He explains that KPK has mobilized 10 teams since March this year across Covid-19 mitigation task forces as watchdogs against acts of corruption within the country’s pandemic mitigation efforts. Ghufron assures that the agency oversees the country’s Covid-19 mitigation and its socio-economic impacts.
Previous reports state that Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has assured that the government now has the needed funds to conduct a nationwide free vaccination worth Rp54.44 trillion taken from Indonesia’s reserves and unexecuted ‘national economic recovery’ funds.
