TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rumors about an impending Cabinet reshuffle in President Jokowi’s current administration has long been circulating, moreover after the arrest of two state ministers due to corruption cases which many deems to be the best momentum for massive overhaul.
Four sources from members of the government and political parties in power claims the President has met political party leaders discussing this potential Cabinet reshuffle scheduled to be announced on Wednesday.
Citing Koran Tempo’s December 21 edition, the President is believed to have summoned the candidates that would fill the reshuffled administration.
“It’s time for a reshuffle. The cases involving Edhy Prabowo and Juliari Batubara strengthen this momentum,” said the source on December 20. Edhy is the former Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister while Juliari Batubara is the former Social Minister nabbed for corrupting funds used to supply the government’s pandemic social assistance packages.
The first sign of yet another Jokowi Cabinet reshuffle came in June this year in a video that was uploaded by the State Secretariat which shows the president’s fury against his state ministers in a sub-10-minute video and his blatant warning of a reshuffle.
