TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-owned bus operator PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) adjusted the operating hours of its bus service from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning today, Dec. 18 until January 8 next year. This followed Governor Anies Baswedan’s appeal on people’s mobility during the year-end holidays, said the Corporate Operation Director Prasetia Budi.
“This rule applies to all of our regular services, namely BRT, non-BRT, and microtrans,” said Prasetia in a written statement on Thursday, Dec. 17.
Anies Baswedan issued a gubernatorial instruction No. 64/2020 on the public activity in preventing Covid-19 during the Christmas and New Year holidays as Coordinating Minister Luhut Pandjaitan asked for tightened social restriction.
Prasetia ensured that his side would not cut off the route during the adjustment and would remain operating 145 routes and limit the number of passengers to 50 percent of the capacity in the bus and bus stops.
With the limited number of passengers, an articulated bus will only carry 60 people, a medium bus will have 30 people, 15 people in a small bus, and five people in microtrans at maximum.
Additionally, Transjakarta extended the bus operating hours for health workers to 9 p.m. until 11 p.m., from initially 10-11 p.m. “So that medical workers can stay mobile properly while carrying out their duties,” Prasetia said.
