'Bike to Work' Appreciates Jakarta's Green Transport Development

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairperson of cycling community 'Bike to Work' Putut Soedarjanto expressed his appreciation for the government’s efforts in constructing green transportation facilities for the past three years. The statement was delivered during the Jakarta Development Collaboration Network (JDCN) virtual discussion on Thursday, December 17, 2020.
"The last three years has truly become a great momentum for us cyclists that use the bicycle as a means of transportation," said Putut.
The 'green transportation' facilities Putut was referring to includes the provision of pedestrians, cyclists' lane, and a system of integrated public mass transport.
Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency Syafrin Liputo, explained that the city prioritizes four issues concerning transportation, which consists of constructing sufficient sidewalks for pedestrians; utilizing transportation modes that are not powered by internal combustion engines (ICE), and integrating various means of public transport.
