Jakarta to Announce 50 Percent WFH Policy for Offices

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said on Thursday, December 17, 2020, that the city administration has decided to implement a 50 percent WFH (work from home) policy instead of the previously suggested 75 percent by the coordinating minister of maritime and investments Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

"Pak Luhut had initially asked for 75 percent, but after we coordinated again with the central government's task force, Luhut, and the governor, we finally agreed to impose 50 percent work from home policy," said the deputy governor to journalists at City Hall on December 17, 2020.

Riza said that one of the considerations for the 50 percent WFH policy is because many corporations are finalizing their "yearbook reports" and the government would like to give corporations a chance to complete that.

The Jakarta administration has also announced that it is currently drafting the official circular for the office capacity limitation policy, which was mainly suggested to suppress the infection rate of Covid-19. Once the circular letter is issued, offices will only be allowed to accommodate 50 percent of workers in the office.
