DPRD Jakarta Encourage Classroom Schooling to Resume

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission E secretary Johnny Simanjuntak, said on Thursday, December 17, 2020, that school classes should be re-opened soon because there are no predictions on when the Covid-19 pandemic would end.
"I am more eager to know that we are indeed living side-by-side with the pandemic. Live normally again but with added health protocols," said Johnny to Tempo on Thursday, December 17, 2020.
Johnny believed that people must not live with prolonged anxiety about the pandemic. He added that through face-to-face class sessions, teachers will be able to provide guidance to students on how to act during this pandemic time.
However, Johnny asserted that there need to be extra precautions on preventing any possible spread of the coronavirus by constantly providing students and teachers with much-needed self-hygiene facilities.
Despite the central government urging schools to reopen and prepare for physical schooling in 2021, the Jakarta Education Agency has yet to announce whether it would comply with the central government's suggestion for 2021.
