TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor Resort Police ensured there will not be a Car Free Night (CFN) event along the Puncak route, West Java, despite it being closed for 12 hours on New Year’s Eve.
“[The route] is usually closed every year for a car-free night event, but this year it will not be so. It is not closed for CFN, but to anticipate crowds,” said the Resort Police Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Roland Ronaldy in Cibinong, Thursday, Dec. 17.
According to him, the police has no longer issued a permit for crowds since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in March. A total of 700 personnel, he added, will be deployed to secure the New Year’s Eve that will be centered in the route.
The Bogor Traffic Police Head First Inspector Dicky Pranata added that the 12-hours-long closure will start at Gadog toll gate, Ciawi, beginning at 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.
“In a bid to minimize traffic density and prevent Covid-19 transmission on the Puncak route on New Year’s Eve,” Dicky said.
People willing to reach Cianjur or Bandung around that time, Dicky explained, can take alternative routes via Sukabumi or Jonggol.
