TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan appealed to all city residents to be more proactive in preventing the Covid-19 transmission during the Christmas and New Year holidays as stipulated in a Gubernatorial Appeal (Sergub) No. 17/2020 set to be enforced from December 18, 2020, until January 8, 2021.
Anies urged the public to stay home as much as possible unless urgent. If they absolutely need to go outside, he added, they are obliged to wear a face mask, maintain a safe distance from each other, and not create or attend events that may cause crowds.
Workplaces are also asked to close at 7 p.m. and limit the number of workers to 50 percent of the capacity at a time. “Unless essential places that serve public services and emergency functions,” said Anies in the appeal signed on December 16, 2020.
Meanwhile, shopping centers, food stalls, restaurants, cafes, restaurants, cinemas, and tourist areas are allowed to operate until 9 p.m. However, specifically on Dec. 24-27 and Dec 30-Jan 1, they must be shut down earlier at 7 p.m. The number of visitors must also be limited to 50 percent of the capacity.
Anies Baswedan further called on the public to adhere to the health protocol against Covid-19 and urged the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) along with related regional working units, the military, and the police to ensure public discipline.
