TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry was mulling over a policy to oblige passengers of long-distance public transport to present a Covid-19 rapid antigen test document. Initially, the rule was only applied to land transport passengers bound for Bali Island.
“We are discussing [the policy] for other regions,” said the Ministry’s Director-General of Land Transportation Budi Setiyadi on Wednesday, Dec. 16.
Budi explained that the discussion was held with the Health Ministry on Tuesday evening, Dec. 15. However, no conclusion has been made as the government was still weighing the price of the test.
“The price determination is in the hands of the Health Ministry, so we are waiting for it,” Budi added.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan previously announced that long-distance train passengers are obliged to carry the rapid antigen test result document which was taken at least two days before the departure. The same policy applies to airline passengers of domestic routes during Christmas and New Year holidays.
The government has also required people traveling to Bali using air transport to take PCR swab tests and those using land transport to pass rapid antigen tests.
