369 Healthcare Workers Lost to COVID-19, Says IDI

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Medical Association lDI on December 15, announced there had been 369 medical workers and healthcare workers who perished in COVID-19 battle. They were 202 doctors, 15 dentists, and 142 nurses.
IDI mitigation team external PR, Elizabeth, in Tuesday’s written statement elaborated that the deaths were from 107 general practitioners, 92 medical specialists, 2 residents, and one that is in verification process which all came from 116 IDI branches.
From this data, Elizabeth said East Java had become the region that has been hit the hardest with the deaths of 41 people, followed by Jakarta with 32 doctors, North Sumatra with 24 doctors, Central Java with 21 doctors, and 19 doctors from West Java.
The growing number of deaths among healthcare workers according to IDI mitigation team member Adib Khumaidi is the byproduct of the rising number of COVID-19 cases, both hospitalized and asymptomatic.
Adib also feared that the latest simultaneous regional head elections woul also cause fluctuations in the number of infections.
