Covid-19 Vaccination; Jokowi to Not Receive First Shot

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan reassures that the government will give the best for the people, including in the COVID-19 vaccination.
Therefore, he hopes there will be no prejudice against the vaccination policy currently being prepared by the government.
“Some say that it (the vaccination) causes illness, and to let the president get the shot first,” said Minister Luhut in a webinar on Saturday, December 12. He added that the President said he wanted to receive the shot together with the people.
He says that President Jokowi wants the vaccination to run according to the set regulation and orderly. “If the President wants it, he can receive the shot today. But he doesn’t want to break the rule,” Luhut said.
Indonesia has received 1.2 million dosages of Sinovac’s Covid-19 vaccine. The vaccination is pending the permit from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control or BPOM.
The minister hopes the Covid-19 vaccination can be done by the end of this month, otherwise it will be executed in Q1 2021. Luhut is optimistic the economic activities will be improving once the vaccination is succeeded, which eventually will boost foreign investment in Indonesia.
