TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Thursday, Dec. 10, proclaimed millennials as potential agents to attract investments into Indonesia.
He bases his assumption on the generation’s intricate connection with media and digital technologies that are undergoing rapid development.
"The millennial generation are those at hand with media penetration and digital technology. They are potential agents that could help boost investments in Indonesia," said the coordinating minister Luhut Pandjaitan on Thursday’s virtual event dubbed 'millennial talk.'
Luhut also is sure about the potential rampant growth of the digital market as internet market penetration sees constant and significant growth annually, which coincides with the establishment of digital infrastructures.
“I am sure that the digital economy will create even more job opportunities,” said Luhut Pandjaitan.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had reportedly ordered state ministers to achieve investment growth by the fourth quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021.
