TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government spokesman for the Covid-19 handling Wiku Adisasmito reported the latest development of coronavirus cases in the past week, starting from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6, 2020.
The task force, he asserted, noted an increase in new cases by 1.05 percent to 14.46 percent compared to the previous week from Nov. 23-29. “West Java and Papua log the highest surge in cases,” said Wiku in today’s virtual press conference, Dec. 10.
West Java Province recorded a hike of 3,785 cases, from 3,712 to 7,497, while Papua’s surge was 1,813 cases from 250 to 2,063 throughout the past week.
Wiku also mentioned provinces that saw a decrease in weekly cases. Central Java recorded the largest drop by 2,100 cases, from 7,617 to 5,517, and followed by Jakarta by 399 cases, from 8,598 to 8,199.
Wiku appealed to all regional heads to keep evaluating the implementation of health protocols against Covid-19 transmission thoroughly.
“Map the main problems that cause people to neglect the protocol and fix them immediately. Also, improve the discipline enforcement of people. Impose sanctions based on the applicable rules to give a deterrent effect,” he underlined.
