KPK Chief Names Corruption as No.1 Enemy in Human Rights Day

10 December 2020 12:28 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri on Thursday argues that the main enemy to uphold human rights in Indonesia remains to be corruption.

“In the capacity as the spearhead against corruption, we deem corruption as the enemy to uphold human rights in this republic as corruption is tightly knit with human rights violations,” said Firli Bahuri in commemorating the world human rights day on December 10.

Firli Bahuri believes corruption robs people’s basic rights from the aspects of social, economy, and culture and assures that the anti-graft commission will uphold the task to eradicate corruption that is rooted in the country.

“It is really not an easy task, it is full of challenges and risks as many still view corruption as a normal aspect in life, and even think that it is a culture,” said the KPK chairman who also encouraged people to start their individual battles against corruption before it is a collective effort.
