Indonesia Records Highest Daily Covid-19 Death

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia on Wednesday, Dec. 9, recorded the highest number of deaths caused by the coronavirus disease of Covid-19, since the country’s first case was detected on March 2.
The national Covid-19 mitigation task force reported 171 deaths today. The previous single-worst daily death toll was noted on November 27 and 29 with 169 cases.
The figure thus brought the total number of deaths related to coronavirus to 18,171.
The government confirmed that the highest figure was logged in East Java with 38 deaths, followed by Central Java with 37 deaths and Jakarta with 18 deaths.
Meanwhile, today’s new daily cases reached 6,058, pushing the tally to 592,900. The number of recoveries also increased by 3,948 so that the total recovery hit 487,445.
