TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The spokesperson for the government’s COVID-19 task force, Wiku Adisasmito, encouraged people to remain disciplined with the healthcare protocol during election day for the regional head elections (Pilkada) today.
“Make sure each and every individual on duty wears a face mask, constantly washes their hands, and maintains physical distances,” wrote Wiku Adisasmito on Tuesday. “Election officials must also remind voters to stay disciplined with the health protocols.”
He said regional COVID-19 task force teams have been mobilized to closely monitor how the votings are performed and immediately take action once the team finds crowds that could potentially spread the viral infection.
“If the person involved does not accept being warned [by regional election officials], local COVID-19 task force officials are authorized to dismiss them,” he wrote.
