TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs Association of Jakarta (HIPPI Jakarta) on Monday commented on the arrival of 1.2 million doses of Sinovac Biotech COVID-19 vaccines and considers this a glimmer of hope for business owners in Indonesia.
HIPPI Jakarta branch chairman, Sarman Simanjorang, wrote in December 7 written statement that the vaccines’ arrival has made “business owners relieved and optimistic about the accelerated recovery of the national economy.”
According to Sarman, the psychic of business goers were hit extremely hard during the past moments following the rise of COVID-19 confirmed cases but with the arrival of the vaccine has placed faith and trust that next year’s economy would slowly grow positive.
“People’s psychology will recover and fear less to go out of their homes to conduct activities and our middle class that have kept their money will start to invest again and spend which will increase the buying power of household consumptions,” said Sarman on December 7.
The HIPPI Jakarta chair also hopes that the workers who were laid off during the pandemic would eventually be employed again and the brighter future would offer more opportunities for those who are looking for jobs.
