Covid-19 Update: Confirmed Cases in Jakarta Increase by 1,360

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On December 5, 2020, Jakarta placed 1st on the number of new Covid-19 cases in Indonesia. The Jakarta health agency recorded on Saturday, December 5, 2020, that the number of new Covid-19 positive cases reached 1,360 people.

Chief of the Disease Control and Management of the Jakarta Health Agency Dwi Oktavia explained that data concerning the new cases was obtained from PCR tests conducted against 16,512 patients.

"From the number, as many as 14,412 people were admitted to PCR tests today to diagnose new cases with a result of 1,360 [Covid-19] positive and 13,052 negatives," Dwi said ina press conference on Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Dwi said that within the past week, as many as 95,593 people have been subjected to PCR test.

According to Dwi, the number of active cases in Jakarta increased by 322 cases, making the total number of active cases to 10,784 cases with patients either receiving treatment or isolated.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases in Jakarta is recorded at 142,630 cases. From the total number of cases, the number of patients healed reached up to 129,067 people with a healing rate of 90.5 percent.

During the pandemic, the Jakarta Health Agency recorded that 2,779 people have died from Covid-19. The mortality rate in Jakarta is recorded at 1.9 percent, while in Indonesia, the total mortality rate is 3.1 percent.

"For positivity rate or percentage of positive cases in the last week in Jakarta was 8 percent, while nationally, the total positivity rate is 8.3 percent," Dwi said. Based on the World Health Organization standards should go no more than 5 percent.

Dwi continued to remind the public to always exercise the health protocol in every activiy of the Jakarta public.

The Jakarta Provincial Govenment will also apply more stringent sanction for mask violation, and other social restriction violation.
