TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police on Friday introduced its latest measure to suppress COVID-19 infection rate by launching a unit dubbed the COVID-19 Hunters, which comprises personnel of the police, the military, and the Jakarta administration.
“This is the implementation of our ‘preventive strike’ strategy. This team will act upon initial signs prior to mass gatherings or crowds,” said the Metro Jaya Police chief, Insp. Gen. Fadli Imran on December 4.
He explained the COVID-19 hunters would actively search for people who tested positive for coronavirus but were not in self-isolation. The search will be carried out based on the tracing and testing methods.
The police chief said the team would look for and pick up COVID-19-positive people and take them to the Wisma Atlet emergency hospital or COVID-19 referral hospitals. The team, which consists of 30 people, will exist at each police resort under the Metro Jaya jurisdiction.
