TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta provincial government has installed flood monitoring devices and surveillance cameras or CCTV in a number of locations to monitor the water level. One of the flood detectors is placed at Katulampa Dam, Bogor.
“From which, we can find out the water level in real-time,” said Regional Secretary official Sri Haryati in a TvOne dialogue event on Thursday evening, December 3, 2020.
Jakarta is cooperating with the West Java government in running the early warning system for floods. With the monitoring tools and CCTV, the city administration could estimate when the water will come from upstream.
The detectors could also show the locations, starting from neighborhood units (RW) to subdistricts, that are possibly hit by flooding. “By this, the city’s early warning system is now ready,” said Haryati.
The public could also monitor the city government’s work through an app Jakarta Kini or JAKI, such as the readiness of flood pumps, the dredging locations, and the condition of waterways.
