TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ride-hailing giants Grab Holding Inc. and Gojek shared a similar position on issues about a merger of the two companies that keep arising to date. Both remained non-committal on any news regarding the possible merger.
“We have no comment on the speculation circulating in the market,” said Grab spokesman who refused to be named to Bisnis.com on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020.
Gojek Chief Corporate Affairs Nila Marita also refused to clarify the merger issues.
“We cannot respond to rumors circulating in the market. What we can say is that Gojek business fundamentals are getting stronger during the pandemic. Some of the company’s services have even recorded positive margins,” Nila told Bisnis.
Nila went on to say that the country's decacorn would keep prioritizing sustainable growth to provide the best services to users and partners in all regions it operates.
Speculations over the merger of the two rivals continue to grow. As previously reported, Grab and Gojek have made significant progress in talks about a possible merger. If it is realized, it will be the highest value merger in Southeast Asia.
