TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened Thursday's trade, December 3, in the safe territory. At around 09:00 Jakarta time, the index stood at 5847.2 or up by 0.57 percent from Wednesday's close.
The index saw 219 stocks advancing to the green zone while 57 are stick in the red. Meanwhile, 166 shares were stagnant.
Artha Sekuritas analyst Dennies Christopher said the index closed higher yesterday, supported by optimism that the Covid-19 vaccine will soon be distributed. The index's gains were also supported by window dressing sentiments as 2020 is coming to a close.
"Positive sentiments also come from optimism about the covid-19 vaccine which will be distributed worldwide in the near future," Dennies said.
He also said that, technically, JCI will still strengthen in a strong bullish trend, especially towards the end of the year—driven by the issuers' window dressing activity.
"Today, the JCI has the potential to move within limits," William said in a written statement. He estimated the index to move between 5,711 and 5,852.
