TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police spokesman Sr. Commissioner Yusri Yunus on Wednesday firmly warned that anyone impeding police work such as what happened in Central Jakarta’s Petamburan will not be taken lightly.
His warning comes after earlier today a group of people, which mostly wore all-white uniforms, created a human barricade to block the police from advancing to Rizieq Shihab’s house. The authorities were there to hand Rizieq a summons notice scheduled for Thursday.
Yusri Yunus vowed to take firm action against these people if a similar incident happens again in future police summons.
Despite rising tension during the blockade, Yusri Yunus said the situation did not turn into chaos after the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) were sent to the location to escort police investigators from the Metro Jaya Police. They eventually were able to hand the summons notice to a local representative and an ustad who said will deliver it to Rizieq Shihab.
