Luhut Pandjaitan Expects Vaccine Supplies to Roll Out Soon

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan on Wednesday, Dec. 2, expressed optimism for Indonesia’s projected growth in 2021, claiming that the country will be able to suppress the effects of the pandemic.
Luhut is currently under the direct order of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to coordinate the domestic COVID-19 mitigations, especially in eight provinces that contribute to more than 70 percent of Indonesia’s number of active cases.
“If everything runs as planned, God willing [Insyallah] we expect the COVID-19 vaccine supply will be ready in December of this year and will immediately be followed up with a vaccination program that far-reaches the entire country in 2021,” said Luhut Pandjaitan in the 2020 International Convention on Indonesia Upstream Oil and Gas event on December 3.
Moreover, Luhut took the moment to express optimism for “the storm that will pass,” which refers to the GDP growth in Asia that is expected to reduce by 2.9 percent in 2020. Meanwhile, ASEAN is expected to see a 2.8 percent drop in GDP growth.
