TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta health agency on Tuesday announced that it is commencing a thorough contact tracing after the city’s governor, Anies Baswedan, announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
Anies had been informed about his swab test report early in the morning after undergoing the test on Monday at City Hall.
"Tracing has begun," said the health agency’s prevention and disease control head, Dwi Oktavia, in a text message to Tempo on December 1.
"After consulting and as doctors suggest, I will undergo independent isolation and follow the treatment procedures established by the medical team,” said Anies.
Last Wednesday, Nov. 25, Anies’ swab test result turned back negative. On Sunday, Nov. 29, after Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria tested positive, Anies also took a test and the result was negative.
Dwi Oktavia urged everyone who had made contact with Anies Baswedan to immediately reach the Jakarta Health Agency or community health centers (Puskesmas) and undergo a swab test.
