TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Jaya Police will hold yet another mass rapid and swab tests in Petamburan, Central Jakarta on Friday, November 27, 2020. The test aimed at confirming Covid-19 infection in the area after a large crowd occurred on November 14, 2020.
“Petamburan residents who think of having close contact in the crowd are appealed to join the test,” said the police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus at his office, South Jakarta, Thursday.
Yusri asserted that the police would not impose sanctions on people who refused to take the rapid test but apply a persuasive approach to the residents.
“We want to make people aware to have a swab test,” said Yusri.
Previously, the first mass rapid test in Petamburan was carried out on Monday until Wednesday after Tanah Abang police chief and deputy police chief, as well as the secretary and the head of the Petamburan subdistrict, were found to be tested positive for the coronavirus disease.
They contracted the virus after monitoring the commemoration event of Prophet Muhammad's birthday and the wedding reception of Rizieq Shihab's daughter in Petamburan on Saturday last week.
Due to the fact, the police and Covid-19 mitigation task force were striving to prevent further transmission. Other than holding a mass test, the officers also sprayed disinfectant along the location on Jalan Ks Tubun, Petamburan.
From the previous mass rapid test joined by 276 residents, the police found eight people had reactive results. Five of them were confirmed negative for the Covid-19, while three others fled before taking the swab test.
