TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Maritime and Fisheries Affairs Ministry has temporarily suspended the issuance of the time determination letter (SPWP) for the export of lobster larvae. The decision was stipulated in circular number B. 22891/PJPT/PI.130/XI/2020 signed November 26, 2020.
The ministry's secretary-general Antam Novambar confirmed that the lobster seed export policy will be evaluated.
The letter stated that the ministry will improve lobster seed management as set out in the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation number 12/Permen-KP/2020. The ministry will also consider the process of revising the regulation.
"As per the issuance of this circular, the SPWP issuance is suspended indefinitely," the letter said. For exporters with lobster seeds still stored in packing houses, the Ministry is allowing them to export until Friday, November 27.
The SPWP suspension was decided after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Edhy Prabowo as a suspect. Edhy has resigned from his position as Maritime and Fisheries Affairs Minister following allegations of bribery in exchange for licenses. Six other people were also named suspects.
