TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Military Commander (Pangdam Jaya) General Dudung Abdurachman on Monday said the recent raid on illegal billboards across the capital city did not exclusively target billboards showing Islam Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab.
“We did not just take down posters belonging to FPI only, not just habib Rizieq, but also other billboards that are illegal and we took them down with the Police Chief,” said Dudung Abdurachman at the Jakarta Military Command headquarters on November 23.
However, he reported that the team took down roughly 900 illegally-erected billboards showing images of the FPI leader.
The military commander called for FPI members to understand that there are existing regulations regarding billboards and legal requirements needed to install one. He also mentioned that everyone is subjected to the regulation without any exclusivity.
“To them I deliver this message, so they understand the law, [and that it is] not their own law,” said the military commander who’s message was supported by the Jakarta Metro Police chief Insp. Gen. Mohammad Fadli Imran.
