TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During his visit to a community healthcare unit (Puskesmas) in Bogor, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo announced that he is ready to be the first COVID-19 vaccine recipient.
"If someone asks whether the president will be in the back or upfront? If the team asks me to be at the forefront I will be ready," said the president at the Tanah Sareal Puskesmas on November 18, 2020.
Jokowi's visit to the Bogor community healthcare unit was accompanied by Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto to oversee the vaccination simulation in the Puskesmas.
However, Jokowi made it clear that the first groups to receive the vaccine will be prioritized for health workers working in the front line of the battle against coronavirus such as "doctors, nurses, and paramedics."
"They will be prioritized,” said Jokowi.
The second group in line, Jokowi said, will be state apparatus' such as Armed Forces soldiers and National Police personnel, followed by other public servants such as teachers. Up until this moment, the Indonesian government has yet to decide which brand of vaccine that will be used for Indonesia's nationwide vaccination.
