No Police Permit for 212 Reunion Gathering in Monas

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Headquarters stated that it would not give permission from the crowd for the 212 demonstration reunion. There have been plans to hold the 212 reunion at the Jakarta Monumen Nasional or Monas on December 2.
"We will not issue a mass gathering permit," Brig. Gen. Awi Setiyono, National Police Headquarters' head of public information, said on Tuesday, November 17.
Awi explained that the Indonesian National Police Chief, General Idham Azis, had ordered all members to take firm action against health protocol violators, particularly those who are holding mass gatherings.
"If we still have mass gatherings, and know who the leaders are, it's clear, we will disperse them," Awi said.
The plan to hold a reunion at Monas was revealed by PA 212 chairman Slamet Maarif following Rizieq Shihab's return to Indonesia from Saudi Arabia.
"We are still discussion the reunion agenda; whether we will hold it like in previous years, or if there would be changes. We will wait after [Shihab] has a few days to rest, and then we will talk about it," Slamet said.
