TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government distributes the second phase of salary subsidies to workers today, November 13. According to Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah, the subsidies have been distributed to more than 2.71 million employees.

In total, Indonesia has given salary subsidies to more than 4.89 million workers. The total budget that has been used for the first and second phases of subsidy disbursements is Rp5.8 trillion.

Ida Fauziyah said her ministry is working to accelerate the distribution of the second term salary subsidy. The government, she said, is also making sure that there would be no delays.

Ida added that after the first-term wage subsidy was disbursed, the Manpower Ministry conducted a joint-evaluation with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Bank Himbara, the Directorate General of Taxes, the BPK, and the KPK. The Ministry has also completed data matching with the Tax DG, allowing the salary subsidy to be disbursed immediately.

The salary subsidy is part of the National Economic Recovery acceleration programs (PEN). This subsidy is given to workers who hold Indonesian citizenship, workers who receive wages, are registered as active participants of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan as of June 30, 2020, are paid under Rp5 million a month, and have active accounts.

The total amount of government assistance in the form of a salary subsidy is Rp2.4 million or around US$170. The subsidies are paid in four stages, Rp600,000 each month, starting in September-October.
