TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Thursday said there needs to be a health protocol and security simulation set in place at Mandalika special economic zone ahead of hosting a race in the 2021 MotoGP calendar.
“This will greatly minimize the possibility of making a mistake as we would know who is responsible for what and the risk factors can be calculated well,” wrote Luhut in a statement on November 12.
A similar health protocol and safety simulation had been implemented on other major high-end tourist destinations in Indonesia such as Labuan Bajo in West Manggarai. The health protocol program will be a collaboration between 23 state-ministries and institutions.
Luhut Pandjaitan noted that similar simulations will be implemented in other Indonesian super-priority destinations, mainly in regions that are prone to natural disasters. The simulation will help elevate Indonesia’s tourist destinations that are heavily promoted internationally such as the Mandalika region, where a dedicated street circuit-style MotoGP track is being built.
