TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) Legislation Body (Baleg) member from the Golkar Party faction, Nurul Arifin, on Thursday criticized the formulation of the Family Resilience Bill (RUU) which she deemed too intrusive towards household issues.
“We seem to be a nation that is slightly nosey in this draft law. The spirit seems to interfere with a person's household,” said the Golkar Party legislative in Thursday’s Baleg meeting, Nov. 12. “We must not forget households have their own entities.”
Moreover, Nurul also criticized the PLKK structure or family resilience service center that the draft law offers, which she argued overlaps the role of the already existing National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN).
“It’s difficult if we cannot accept the condition that we are a heterogeneous society. I truly do not understand the mindset [behind the draft law] that seems to pay attention to aspects in life that are truly personal,” said Nurul.
She maintained that her support would be aimed at plans to strengthen the role of the BKKBN, which has offered older programs that must be continued.
Nurul Arifin said the Family Resilience Bill's legal substances are already contained in the Law on Child Protection and the Law on Marriage.
