TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The controversial comment of PDIP Party chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri quipping that the capital city is ‘too disorganized’ attracted many reactions. One came from the PDIP faction chairperson at the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD), Gembong Warsono.
Warsono believes the comments said by his party’s leader should not be a subject of debate anymore as he believes it was aimed to push Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to execute the capital city’s top priority programs.
“If we pay good attention [to her comment] it can be perceived as a trigger instead of making it into a polemic,” said the DPRD member on Thursday.
Gembong Warsono argues that Megawati might think that Jakarta’s programs had stagnated and lacks significant changes under Anies Baswedan’s three-year leadership. He believes Megawati’s comments are meant to trigger Anies into realizing the series of political promises the governor made in his election campaign back in 2017.
Megawati previously commented about the condition of the capital city after Jakarta received the ‘city of intellectual award’ based on research led by UNJ senate and professor, Hafid Abbas.
