TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia on Tuesday, November 10, announced that the company will not charge extra fees for customers rescheduling and asking for refunds following the toll road traffic congestion heading towards the Soekarno-Hatta Airport today.
The traffic congestion on Tuesday was caused by the large number of people welcoming the arrival of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) figure Rizieq Shihab.
“We fully understand the concern by our passengers, which is why Garuda Indonesia is committed to always be there for them with solutions, especially for those who are affected by the traffic heading to the airport,” said Garuda Indonesia president director Irfan Setiaputra on November 10.
The air carrier also offers the option to reschedule flights for those who are already on their way to the airport, however, he said that flight rescheduling and ticket refunds will be according to terms and conditions.
Earlier today, state-owned toll road operator Jasamarga reported that a 7-kilometer-long traffic congestion had formed heading towards Soekarno-Hatta airport, which is caused by the overwhelming reception from Rizieq Shihab followers wanting to welcome the FPI leader home from his self-exile in Saudi Arabia.
