TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, through his Instagram post on Monday, reminded people to remain optimistic after having to survive the COVID-19 pandemic for 8 months since March 2 when the first case of infection was announced.
“Eight months have passed since we faced the COVID-19 pandemic and we are lucky to inherit the optimism and the attitude of never giving up,” the President captioned on November 9. “Our nation was formed from natural challenges and the geographic condition of Nusantara.”
In an attempt to keep the spirits of Indonesians high, Jokowi recalled that Indonesia’s ancestors have always tried to ‘make friends’ with each and every challenge that were presented and had always maintained harmony with the environment and building values above that.
He then encouraged people to continue being productive all while abiding by the existing COVID-19 health protocols and dig deeper the local wisdoms to strengthen oneself in going through adversity.
