TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Maybank Indonesia has followed-up the complaint filed by female e-sport athlete Winda D. Lunardi and her mother Floletta Lizzy Wiguna on an alleged Rp20 billion theft committed by one of the bank’s branch leaders identified as AT.
“Maybank Indonesia has reported the alleged theft to the police,” wrote Maybank Indonesia spokesperson Esti Nugraheni in Friday’s release.
According to the National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Awi Setiyono, AT committed the crime by offering Winda and her mother a time deposit with a ten percent interest. The bank, however, does not have this kind of offer.
After coaxing his victim, AT forged the data belonging to the e-sport athlete and used it to withdraw nearly all of Winda’s savings and invested them with his friends.
Winda Lunardi was unaware of the theft until she tried to withdraw money and found out that she only had Rp600,000 in her savings instead of the Rp22 billion she actually had.
