TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta government's official website for Covid-19 mitigation corona.jakarta.go.id on Thursday, November 5, 2020, reported that 65 detainees in the police detention center, South Jakarta, were tested positive for the coronavirus disease.
Police Head of Public Relations Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus responded shortly when asked for confirmation. “We will check it first,” he said on Friday, Nov. 6.
Other than in the police HQ, the virus cases were also discovered in some resort and sector police, including in East Jakarta with 23 infections. East Jakarta Resort Police deputy chief Adj. Comr. Stefanus Tamuntuan confirmed the news.
“We are coordinating with related parties, including East Jakarta Health Agency, the State Prosecutor's Office, and the Cipinang Detention Center,” said Stefanus.
The detainees who tested positive for Covid-19 did not develop symptoms or asymptomatic carriers. Stefanus said doctors have been monitoring them and treating them with medication and vitamins.
They are placed in special detention cells. “Everyone is under doctor's monitoring and control,” said Stefanus.
