Health Ministry, British Embassy Join Hands to Develop Telemedicine Platform

5 November 2020 10:08 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe British Embassy and the Health Ministry organized an online workshop on the application of telemedicine service.

The ministry’s expert staff for health technology and globalization, Achmad Yurianto, said that the government was striving to develop a telemedicine platform to provide safe, convenient and quality access to health services.

“I believe this will bring many benefits to more than 269 million Indonesians across 17,504 islands,” said Yurianto in his written statement on Thursday, November 5, 2020.

Yurianto reiterated that community-based telemedicine is vital for Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world. The country also has the potential to develop digital health services and technology, he added.

The British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste, Owen Jenkins, said his side would keep accelerating the use of remote medical and consulting services to beef up the security and minimize the risk of Covid-19 transmission.

He claimed to be glad to share the knowledge and experience of his country in making innovations in the digital health sector. Owen argued that well-ordered telemedicine regulations are essential in the development and strengthening of current and future digital healthcare services.

“We hope we can continue to collaborate with the Indonesian government in developing this sector,” said the British Ambassador.
