TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan today morning led a ceremony in preparation of the upcoming rainy season in the province at Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) 2, Tanjung Priok.
Local government officials, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the Military (TNI), and the Police attended the session.
“Challenges in the rainy season are increasing due to the La Nina phenomenon,” said Anies. The weather phenomenon increases the rainfall intensity in the country.
“All of us here in this place are individuals who are tasked by the state to ensure that the capital city is safe and can face all challenges as well as possible.”
The ceremony, he added, aimed at increasing vigilance ahead of the rainy season under three keywords, viz. alert, responsive, and mobilization. The alert means measures to prepare all existing potentials. Responsive means to keep the monitoring of weather developments.
“And third, in facing disaster, we need to have the power to mobilize all strengths,” Anies Baswedan said.
Hundreds of participants from each agency joined the ceremony. Equipment for disaster response such as rubber boats and refugee tents were exhibited in the area.
