TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Association of Indonesia Hajj and Umrah Organizers (Amphuri) chairperson Firman M. Nur on Tuesday said that the cost of an Umrah pilgrimage amidst the pandemic will increase 20-30 percent compared to the normal price.
“The increase will be roughly Rp5-7 million. And this can grow higher according to which hotel they will use,” said Firman to Tempo on November 3.
He said the adjustments in the costs are closely related to the new policies of performing umrah amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Saudi Arabia requires pilgrims to go through health tests such as swab tests and committing to self-isolations to greatly limit interactions with other pilgrims.
According to Firman, other aspects that increase the cost of umrah include transportation and other forms of accommodation that have to adjust to the restricted capacity required by the physical distancing rule.
