TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The tourism management board of Borobudur Temple, PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC), clarified information saying that tourists in the temple contracted the coronavirus disease or Covid-19.
The corporate secretary Emilia Eny Utari asserted that tourists do not need to fret about visiting the temple in Magelang, Central Java, because they have implemented stringent health protocol against the virus.
“We emphasize that people who tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday have not entered the temple area,” said Emilia in Magelang on Monday, November 2, 2020.
News circulated that two tourists in Borobudur Temple were found positive for Covid-19. They underwent rapid tests in which the results turned back reactive and so they passed PCR swab tests afterward. The results of the PCR swab tests conducted by the Magelang District Agency, Central Java, also showed positive.
Emilia explained that during the long weekend holiday from Wednesday to Sunday, October 28-November 1, 2020, officers from the Magelang Health Agency held random rapid tests for visitors who were wishing to visit Borobudur Temple, instead of those who were in the temple areas. Hundreds of blood samples were taken from 455 people, she added.
“The rapid test was carried out at the Tourist Information Center or TIC Borobudur, which is located about one kilometer from the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park,” Emilia underlined. “We support anticipatory efforts by the Magelang Covid-19 Task Force, Central Java.”
