TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency recorded 11.65 percent increase in the number of vehicles after the city once again relaxed its coronavirus restriction (PSBB) to the status of transitional PSBB.
This increase was calculated from the data obtained from the first day the second transitional PSBB was implemented on October 12 up to October 25, 2020. “We compared the data from the first PSBB with the second PSBB,” wrote Syafrin Liputo, head of the city’s transportation agency.
Apart from the growth of vehicles, he also announced that the population of bicycles during this transitional period had spiked up to 211.7 percent compared to the previous PSBB. However, the growing population of cyclists had sparked an increase in the number of crimes specifically targeting cyclists.
The agency also said public transportation users had increased from 615,918 passengers to 694,939 passengers during the current transitional PSBB.
